Harbourfront – Robin will be part of a panel discussion at Harbourfront on Sunday, November 1, 2015 – 2:00 PM
In 2014, Toronto City Council commemorated the 40th anniversary of the City of Toronto Book Awards with a plan to establish the Toronto Book Garden at Harbourfront Centre. To celebrate the Garden’s establishment, past Toronto Book Award winners Austin Clarke(2009), Charlotte Gray (2014), Helen Humphreys (1998), Rabindranath Maharaj (2011),Rosemary Sullivan (1996), Guy Vanderhaeghe (1990) and Richard B. Wright (1974) will discuss their winning books. The moderator of the panel will be former mayor John Sewell, who presented the proposal to City Council in 1974 to create the City of Toronto Book Awards.
Toronto Arts & Letters Club Talk – (January 13, 2015.) In his talk, “Memory, Reading and Changing Technology”, Robin spoke about the role memory plays in our apprehension of ourselves, and how technology is changing this and how we read and accrue information.
Word on the Street, Toronto – (September, 2014) Reading and moderated discussion about writing at the Toronto Book Awards tent.
CBC Listing – (June 2014) The Amazing Absorbing Boy makes CBC’s “100 novels that make you proud to be Canadian” list.
Writer-In-Residence – (Sept – Dec 2013) Robin was again a writer-in-residence in Trinidad.
eBook Feature – Named one of twelve “most interesting people” featured in the ebook Fascinating People of Durham Region 2013.
Profile – (July) “Author Rabindranath Maharaj pulls from his Indian and Trinidadian roots in his writing” featured on CanadianImmigrant.ca.
Northwords Screening – (July) The documentary “Northwords”, of which Robin was a part, was screened in Ottawa at the National Arts Centre and aired again on the CBC Docs channel.
Reading – (March) Reading from The Amazing Absorbing Boy at University of West Indie’s St. Augustine Campus’s Literature Week Gala Reading and Closing Ceremony.
Writer-In-Residence – (February to April, 2013) Writer-in-Residence at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine campus in Trinidad.
Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal – (January, 2013) Awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal at a reception at Heritage House in Ajax (pictured at right with MP Chris Alexander). Read the Diamond Jubilee Spotlight about Robin here.

Lifetime Literary Award – (November, 2012) Robin received a Lifetime Literary Award as part of the commemoration of Trinidad’s 50th independence anniversary. Administered by NALIS (Trinidad and Tobago’s National Library and Information System Authority), the award ceremony took place November 2012.
